Although it's been incredible being back in our own home again, it hasn't exactly been that relaxing. Or should I say...restful. We haven't really had a good night's sleep since we left Japan, mainly because our internal clocks are pretty messed up from the time change...(not to point any fingers, but really it's been all Brooke and Austin's fault!).
Our poor kids have their days and nights so turned around, we have spent most nights wide awake, pleading with them to go back to bed! The first few nights back were pretty much the same...in bed by 10pm, both up by midnight, up again at 1am and up for good, and I mean good, at 2:30am. We spent the first few nights awake in the living room, pitch black outside, watching cartoons, playing with their toys, only for them to finally decide to go to bed at 11am and sleep until 6pm. I have literally been a walking zombie all week, watching more sunrises than I have seen since finals week in college!
It is slowly getting better though, each night they sleep longer and longer, and we are getting better about waking them up so they get back on track and don't sleep all day! That has been the hard part though, trying to keep them up is not that easy!! Brooke will pass out on the floor playing with her toys, anytime we ride in the car or hold her, and Austin pretty much does the same...they have even fell asleep while we changed their diapers!! Hopefully it won't be long though until our kids are back to their old "good" habits of sleeping through the night again!
Our two night owls up and ready to go at 3am! Yes, this picture was taken at 3 in the morning!
What is wrong with this picture?!! I'll tell you, it's pitch black outside and our kids are up and wide awake at 3am!!
Loving being in her own home with all her new toys, even in the middle of the night!
Austin was very happy to be back home with all of his cars and trucks again, and even more happy that he got to play with them in the wee hours of the morning!
This is what you get when your kid is up all night, and then you try to force him to stay up all day so he will get back on track...he literally passed out on the sofa in the middle of the day, in this position!! First of all, it makes me sad to know he is this tired...2nd of all, how does one fall asleep like this?!!!!
