Thanksgiving 2010...

We had a great Thanksgiving at the Falky house this year! Brian's parents came over and spent the whole day with us...playing with the kids, helping cooking, watching football and just relaxing together as a fam!! Our dinner turned out delicious, we were all stuffed by the end of the night!! Brooke was especially fond of the stuffing, and Austin couldn't get enough of Grandma's chocolate pie!!! It was a great day, we are truly thankful we got to spend it with our family, thank you Jane and Tom for such a special day together!!

Happy Thanksgiving 2010!

1st Day of Preschool...

Austin couldn't have been more excited to start school! He talked about it all summer while we were in Japan, he kept saying he couldn't wait to meet his teacher and see his friends and play!

On November 1st, he started his first day. We had to adjust our schedule a bit (the kids were on "baseball" schedule the past 6 months, staying up late for games and waking up later in the morning), but with school starting at 7:45 am (yes, 7:45!!) every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we had to get him to bed much earlier!! Thankfully it was a very easy transition, I am sure the time change and jet lag from Japan helped in that, but it didn't take long to get him on "school" schedule!

It was a beautiful day out his first day of school, he woke up SO happy and was so excited! I think we may have got him up a little too early, but we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time...it's no good being late your first day!! After the first two days, we let him sleep in a bit later!! The look on his face was priceless the whole morning, he had a constant smile and was just beaming with excitement! Our school is within walking distance, we are so lucky, so we hopped the kids in the stroller and walked to school with all the other kids in the neighborhood!! Austin was so proud!

I was nervous how he was going to react once it came time to leave him in class, but he really did so good, I don't even think he noticed I left!! It made me sad in a way, it was hard leaving him, not getting to see him enjoy his new class and just handing him off like that, but seeing him so excited, and talking to all of his new friends in class, I knew he was OK!! It was weird going home and only having Brooke all morning, but nice to get the one on one time with her too!! It made me sad knowing our first born was so grown up, off to school already, it makes you realize how fast it all goes, but proud too, for he didn't cry or anything, he was ready :)

Picking him up 3 hours later was so fun, he came running out so happy, showing me all of the things he made in school that day and telling me all about it!! It was the best!! He couldn't wait to go back the next day, he LOVES school!!

All ready for his first day of Pre School!

We get to walk him to school!

Pop-Pop and Grandma got to come too!

He also LOVES his backpack!!

We got there a little early! We had to wait a bit for the teachers to open the doors, he was getting so anxious he kept staring into the windows asking me why we couldn't go in yet!!! :) He couldn't wait to get in there!

Making friends already!

Halloween 2010...

We had a fun Halloween this year. We started off the day by heading to our neighborhood block party with Brian's parents and my parents, followed by a night of trick or treating!

Austin was supposed to be dressed up as a shark, (Brian and I picked it out while we were in Japan for Austin loved the sharks at the aquarium there) but he absolutely panicked when he saw the costume. I wish I had a video of his reaction to it, he was not having it at all!! I totally tried to get him to wear it, and was practically forcing it on him as he was kicking and screaming (seriously, what was I thinking?! I probably scarred him for life!) but I thought once he saw it on, he would like it. Not. He wasn't going to wear that costume no matter what.

So that left us one day to figure out something new, and he really wanted to be a Robot too, so we headed to the local Lowes and got everything we needed to make a good old fashioned, do it yourself, Robot costume! He ended up loving it thankfully and went as Super Robot. Brooke was way easier, she had a Bee costume, and other than not being able to wear the cute striped tights that went with it because it was practically 100 degrees outside, she rocked it.

We didn't do too much trick or treating, Austin gave up after about 7 houses for all he wanted was to go home and eat his candy. We tried to tell him if he kept going he would get more, but in all honesty, he didn't need that much candy anyway!! :) The kids loved knocking on the doors and saying trick or treat though. This was Brooke's first real time trick or treating, last year she was just a baby in her infant seat! She loved to hold out her pumpkin, but wouldn't let people put the candy in it...she had to do it! It was funny, she was stubborn about it, but was happy when she got to drop in her treasures!

Brooke was a little wary of the pumpkins...she wasn't too sure about them!

Our busy bee!

At the block party, all they wanted to do was play in the rocks! Nice socializing kids!

She always manages to find the food!

It was all over once she saw the candy bowl...too bad this was the candy we were handing out...she didn't want to give it up!

For me?!

She figured out how to open them...yumm chocolate!
